The Ekiti State Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has commenced its election campaign, led by the Team of Advancement, spearheaded by Mrs. Adewumi Ademiju, contestant for the Chairperson position.
The team, launching their campaign at Progress FM, Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State (BSES), and National Television Authority (NTA), emphasized a five-point agenda aimed at enhancing the professionalism of female journalists to include capacity building, establishing a daycare/creche facility, setting up a functional NAWOJ office, advocating for gender development, and fostering inclusivity among members.
Outgoing Chairperson Alhaja Fatima Bello welcomed the team, urging them to build upon existing foundations for the chapter’s growth and emphasizing the importance of collaboration among aspirants.
Similarly, Mr. Olu Popoola, General Manager of BSES, encouraged inclusivity in training programs, extending support to both women and men. He pledged free airtime for correctional programs and emphasized self-belief and unity among members.
In addition, the General Manager of the National Television Authority (NTA), Mr. Ishaq Akande, emphasized the importance of harmony and inclusiveness among NAWOJ members. He stressed the need for the team to work together seamlessly and ensure that all members are included and represented. Furthermore, he offered prayers for a peaceful and prosperous tenure for the incoming leadership.
