Oyebanji Renews Olatona’s Tenure as EKSIRS Boss, Appoints Akingbade to Head Security Trust Fund

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has renewed the appointment of Mr Olaniran Olatona as Executive Chairman of the Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service (EKSIRS) for another four-year term.

The reappointment, which takes effect from November 1, 2026, will be transmitted to the Ekiti State House of Assembly for confirmation this week.

Mr Olatona, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) from Okemesi-Ekiti, was first appointed in November 2022. His first term has been marked by outstanding performance, with the State’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) recording over 60 per cent growth, significantly boosting Government’s capacity to fund public services and drive its development agenda.

In a related appointment, the Governor has named a renowned financial management expert and former Commissioner for Finance, Mr Ishola Akingbade, as Chairman of the Ekiti State Security Trust Fund.

Mr Akingbade, who hails from Ilukuno-Ekiti in Ijero Local Government Area, is a Chartered Accountant and Fellow of both ICAN and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN). He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Financial Management and brings decades of experience in public finance and administration to the role.

His appointment takes immediate effect.
