A gay suspect in the custody of Edo State Police Command said he was introduced to gay by his “school father” while he was studying at the Polytechnic.
The suspect identified as Chinedu Ikwuagwu, 30, claimed that he stopped the unlawful act after he graduated, but recently began anal intercourse.
Chinedu disclosed this to journalists while being paraded alongside other suspects at the Edo State police command in Benin City.
He said: “I will not deny that I am not a gay. But, it is not something I do often. It was my school father who introduced me into gay.
“I have a serious girlfriend (fiancee) and I don’t know how it happened, but I thank God I am still alive. I want to apologise to my fiancee that she should forgive me.”
Spokesman for the police Command, SP. Chidi Nwabuzor, said Chinedu’s arrest followed a complaint by one Wisdom who said the suspect hypnotised him and had anal intercourse with him.
He said the other eight suspects were involved in various crimes and criminalities in the state.
According to Chidi, the arrested suspects include one Raymond Osaro, 33, and Godstime Idemudia, 33, who were said to have kidnapped a pregnant woman and her sister-in law.
He stated that the kidnap suspects thereafter demanded N5 million ransom from the pregnant woman’s husband
