EKSU Becomes First University In Africa To Launch Dealing , Trading Room

 

The Ekiti State University have become the first Institution in Nigeria and sub-sahara Africa to launch a financial dealing room as the university seeks to provide students with practical experience in financial trading.
The trading room was launched on 24th March 2025 at the Department of Finance Faculty of Management Sciences where about 50 million naira worth of gadgets was commissioned.

 

The initiative is the collaborative efforts of Ekiti State University, the Tunji Olowolafe Foundation, CFA society Nigeria and FMDQ Group which aimed at providing economic and financial reliance of the university.
The General Manager of Olutunji Olowolafe Foundation Mrs Morenisola Familoni while speaking to journalists said while the dealing room is the first of its kind in a Nigeria University is equipped with 12 box stations with each havinh two monitors, a giant tv screen , a solar inverter to power the entire systems, 3 AC units to ensure conducive environment for business transactions.
Mrs Familoni describes the trading room as a place where with the help of the internet stocks,equities, bonds and forex are either bought or sold all over the world. She declares that live trading is possible and that the facility has been equipped with the neccesarry facilities to ensure smooth operations.

A graduate of the Institution and a beneficiary of the training Ifetoye Oluwasogo Samson told newsmen that the CFA society took selected students to Lagos inorder to be exposed to the technical knowledge of what they have been taught in class, he thereafter took his time to show invited guests how the stock exchange works in the capital market.

The Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University Professor Joseph Babalola while taking a tour of the room expressed his profound gratitude to the ODF, CFA and FMDQ for bringing such a multimillion naira project into the school.

Professor Babalola was of the opinion that students will sure know how to navigate the market world and wil no longer have to struggle in the employment market.
Professor Babalola declared the facility opened for business, showered encomiums on the Ekiti State Governor Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji for his continuous efforts in ensuring that standard and quality education is obtainable in the Institution.
