AIG vows to probe alleged Human rights abuse video in Maroko, Lagos

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos, AlG Fayoade Adegoke, has set up a six-man panel to investigate the case of alleged human rights abuse video in Maroko area of Lagos.

The probe team comprise a Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Ajao S. Adewale, Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of Zonal Criminal Investigation Department (ZCID), ACP Ogunsakin Gbenga, Officer in-charge of Zonal Intelligence Department, Mr. Emma Nndozie, Group Crime Editor, Vanguard Newspaper, Comrade Prince Adeoye Adewunmi, a Human Rights Activist, Ivy Kanu of TVC News and Barrister Blessing Afe, a Lawyer and social worker to probe the incident of human rights abuse in Maroko police station under Lagos state Police command in Lagos.

This was contained in a statement signed by the zonal spokesperson, SP Ayuba Emma, Thursday, which stated that the Command is aware of the case of human rights abuse which was reported via a video that went viral in which a woman alleged that she was detained at Maroko Police station cell alongside some male and under-aged individuals.

“The panel is to be formally inaugurated by AIG Fayoade Adegoke, at the M.D Abubakar Conference Hall, Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos at 12:00 noon on Friday,” the statement said.
