The Ekiti state government has donated an 18- seater bus to the state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers,NUT.
The NUT chairman,Comrade Oke Emmanuel received the brand new bus from the State Government on Monday.
Delivering the bus to the union on behalf of the governor ,Dr John kayode Fayemi ,the Secretary to the state government Mr Foluso Daramola said the bus was in fulfillment of the promise made by governor Fayemi to all the teachers in Ekiti State during the last world teachers day and he enjoined the union to use the bus efficiently.
“The fulfilment of the promise to the teachers by the Government of Ekiti State followed the unrelenting and doggedness of Comrade Oke Emmanuel in getting the bus to ease the transportation challenges that is facing the union whenever they have regional and national meetings”.
Oke who could not hide his joy because of this special gift described Dr John kayode Fayemi as “promise keeper and man of his words “.
He noted that apart from official use , “the bus will be available to teachers in Ekiti State whenever they have social events when they apply for it”.
He however called on the governor “to pay outstanding arrears of salary owning the teachers and other workers in Ekiti State before the expiration of his tenure”.
