….Names Zulum, Inu Yahya ,Shettima as preferred candidates to pull votes
In preparation for the general election in the country,reactions have continued to trail on the choice of running mate by the All progressives congress APC.
Alongside this,the global chairman of Bola Ahmed Tinubu Solidarity Vanguard- BATS-V, Ambassador Dr Dare Owotomobi has urged the party stakeholders and the flagbearer, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to narrow down on the most strategic option and not a sentimental one.
Owotomobi in a press statement in Abuja titled: TINUBU ON VP MUSLIM/MUSLIM TICKET PUZZLE ,and made available to Journalists encouraged Tinubu to pay little attention to twitter verse and meta verse.
The BATSV boss stated:
“Some Facts and Questions will guide my recommendations.
A Muslim/Muslim Ticket has Presidential election in Nigeria.
In 1993 MKO Abiola picked a Muslim Northerner and won.
“South West APC voters do not care if VP is Muslim and they will never because of that vote another party.
South West is the most religious tolerant group in Nigeria. BAT will win 70% of the vote.
“BAT will still not get a major boost of South East votes if he picks a Christian Northerner
“At least 90% of South East votes are going to be shared between Atiku & Obi, so that region should be less relevant for BAT strategic thought process
“Kudos however to the potential 10% from there who knows how to reason independently outside the Mob & Boxed grouping, enough to vote BAT”.
Owotomobi continues
“APC is likely to get on or about 45-50% of South South vote. They are the second most religious tolerant group in Nigeria. The probability that their vote would be a deciding factor in 2023 is low.The margin will be too minimal.
“In an election that has Atiku on Ballot, a Former VP, Moslem and Northerner… an unpopular Christian VP cannot balance the odds in Favour of BAT in the Moslem North”
Owotomobi noted that ,the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not a religion bigot
“90% of his household are Christians ,his wife is regional pastor of one the largest pentecostal church in Nigeria,,her son Seyi is a Christian and her daughter folasade Tinubu Ojo (Iyaloja) is a Christian also married to another Christian, Hon Oyetunde Ojo,a Christian
“Southwest people are religious tolerant, I am a Christian of CAC denomination,I had never think of Tinubu”s religion for a day”
He added:
“A Popular Moslem VP like Zulum will balance the odds in Favour of BAT in the Moslem North,If 2023 is about winning, and winning against a formidable foe like Atiku.
“My recommendation for BAT is to go for Popular Muslim Northerner like Zulum/Inu Yahya/Shettima, who have a track record of winning elections without a single loss.
“Until you have an idea of a Christian Northerner who can pull Northern Votes like or more than Zulum/Inu Yahya/Shettima, they remain my personal preference.
Election is mathematics, not an emotional therapy. That is why it ends with the counting of numbers” he stated.
