The family of the veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has announced that the Nigerian actor will be laid to rest on Monday, August 24, in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State.
Ogogo, after a battle with stage four cancer, succumbed to the cold hands of death on Sunday, August 23, 2026.
Ogogo’s daughter, Kira, in a livestream, announced the passing of his father.
Recall that she was the one who brought the 66-year-old actor’s health conditions to light barely two weeks ago.
According to her, Ogogo has been denied chemotherapy by the hospital following the diagnosis of cancer.
Following her appeal, several prominent individuals came up, including Senator Yayi, who personally reached out to top cancer specialists to help Ogogo.
Yinka Quadri also updated about the actor’s status, appreciating the various aid but stating that since moving the actor was impossible, it was better to continue helping however everyone could.
However, in a social media post shared by his colleague and friend, Jide Kosoko, he revealed that the actor died at 3 pm on Sunday at the age of 66 years and will be laid to rest in his hometown, Ilaro, Ogun State.
According to him, special prayers will be held at the pavilion in Ilaro in honour of the deceased.
Before his demise, Ogogo opened up about his seven-year battle with a strange illness during an interview on Oyinmomo TV.
He described it as a life-threatening ulcer and revealed that he couldn’t eat anything except pap. Ogogo also explained how he went from place to place and received different treatments.
