Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has celebrated her 49th birthday, expressing gratitude to God for His blessings, guidance and protection throughout her journey.
Akindele, who is popularly known as Jenifa, shared a heartfelt birthday message on social media on Monday, August 24, 2026, reflecting on her life, achievements, challenges and the lessons she has learnt over the years.
The actress said her heart was filled with gratitude to God for “all He has done, all He is doing, and all that is still to come.”
According to her, God has remained her strength and shield through every season, lesson, victory, mistake and challenge, giving her the grace to rise, learn, keep going and become better.
The celebrant also offered prayers for good health, long life, peace and the grace to continue walking in purpose.
“I pray that my life continues to mean something beyond me. That I can touch more lives, open more doors, nurture more talents, raise more stars and give others the opportunity to become everything God has called them to be,” she wrote.
Akindele further prayed for the grace to continue giving back and growing, while expressing hope that her life would remain a testimony and inspire others to believe, dream and keep going.
Born on August 24, 1977, Funke Akindele has established herself as one of Nigeria’s leading actresses, filmmakers and producers.
She rose to prominence through her role as Bisi in the television series I Need to Know before becoming widely known for her iconic character, Jenifa.
Akindele has also recorded major successes as a filmmaker and producer, with her projects including A Tribe Called Judah, Battle on Buka Street, Omo Ghetto: The Saga, Everybody Loves Jenifa and Behind the Scenes..
