In a landmark development for media leadership and women in journalism, Dr. (Mrs.) Adeola Ekine has been officially appointed as Special Adviser (SA) to the National President of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ). The announcement was made during the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the NUJ held at the prestigious Tahir Guest Palace, Kano State, on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

A Seasoned Leader in the Media Space
Dr. Adeola Ekine is a well-respected journalist, public affairs professional, and media strategist. She is the immediate past two-term Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Lagos State Chapter (2019–2025), where she transformed the chapter into a powerhouse of advocacy, capacity-building, and impactful projects.
Throughout her NAWOJ leadership, she championed various mind-blowing initiatives and programs that empowered hundreds of women in media. Notably, she built strong alliances with governmental, corporate, and civil society stakeholders, leaving a legacy of innovation and influence.

Transformational Leadership in NAWOJ Lagos — Delivered over 17 landmark achievements during her tenure, ranging from advocacy campaigns to skill development programs for women journalists.

In addition to her leadership in NAWOJ, Dr. Ekine serves as the Head of Public Affairs Unit at the Lagos State Printing Corporation, where she has brought innovation, strategic communication, and media engagement to the forefront. She is also a passionate Woman and Child Advocate and an Exclusive Breastfeeding Advocate, leading campaigns that align with global health and development goals.
