A newlywed couple, Rev. Abiodun David and Funmilayo Bamidele, have regained their freedom after spending 21 days in captivity.
The couple were returning from their engagement ceremony when gunmen abducted them and four other persons along the Iyemero and Eruku Road, on the border between Kwara and Kogi States, on September 26, 2026.
A local source disclosed that:” the groom’s uncle died while in captivity”, adding that “his body had not been released”,as of the time of filing this report.
The source said the armed bandits freed the newlyweds following the payment of N10 million ransom.
The couple have since been reunited with their family.
