Ekiti Government Holds Departure Ceremony for Year 2025 Hajj Pilgrims.

..calls for Discipline and Devotion in Holy land

The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has charged intending pilgrims from the State
to this year’s Hajj to.demonstrate discipline, integrity, honesty and other core values of Ekiti as they embark on the journey to the holy land of Mecca and Medina

Governor Oyebanji gave the charge while addressing the 200 intending Pilgrims from the State at the Official Departure Ceremony held in Ado-Ekiti.

The Governor who spoke through the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro at the solemn ceremony emphasized the spiritual significance of Hajj, describing it as not just a physical journey but a profound act of devotion and obedience to Almighty Allah .

He congratulated the pilgrims for being among the few chosen to fulfill this important pillar of Islam and stressed the commitment
of the State Government in putting in place proper arrangement in order ensure a hitch free Hajj for the Pilgrims

“You are not just individuals embarking on a religious journey; you are ambassadors of Ekiti State and Nigeria. Your conduct must reflect the values we hold dear -discipline, humility, and righteousness,” he stated.

The Governor also cautioned the pilgrims against any form of misconduct, particularly criminal activities such as drug trafficking or abscondment, warning that such actions attract severe punishment in Saudi Arabia

“Abide by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They take the sanctity of Hajj very seriously, and any infraction is met with severe consequences,” he warned, urging the pilgrims to focus on their religious obligations and offer prayers for peace, progress, and good governance in Ekiti State and Nigeria.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Ekiti State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Salman Adedipe expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the successful preparation of the pilgrimage and the continued support from the state government. He advised the pilgrims to seize the rare opportunity with gratitude and maintain good conduct throughout the exercise.

A representative of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Alhaji Musa Balogun, advised the pilgrims to avoid carrying any illicit substances including marijuana, warning them to also avoid receiving suspicious parcels from unknown sources as contraband could be planted in their luggage.

He also encouraged them to report any health issues to medical personnel attached to the Contingent and not resort to self medication.

The event was attended by members of the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, representatives of the Nigeria Police and Immigration Services, prominent Islamic scholars, and other stakeholders.
