Police arrest Five over alleged murder of Unilorin graduate 

Police said it has arrested five male suspects in connection with the alleged murder of 46-year-old Lanre Adebayo, a political science graduate from the University of Ilorin.

The suspects include the community chairman, two local security guards, and two others.

 

The arrest followed the fatal incident, which occurred on Sunday night in the Ita-Elepa area of Ilorin West Local Government Area, Kwara State.

Adebayo was reportedly involved in a heated argument with the local securitymen on his way home, which escalated into violence. Sources indicate that he was allegedly macheted to death around 10:00 p.m.

According to police,the suspects were arrested on Tuesday and transferred to the Kwara State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters on Wednesday.

Confirming the incident, Kwara State Police Command Spokesperson, Ejire Adeyemi Adetoun, stated, “The case was reported to command headquarters on Wednesday evening, and the suspects, all males, have been brought in for further interrogation. Investigation is ongoing, and we will brief the press once it is concluded.”
