…..as Youth Congress Distributes Sanitary Towel in Sec. Sch.
The ladies’s Section of the Nigerian Youth Congress in Ado Ekiti has joined the rest of the world towards promoting menstrual hygiene by providing sanitary pads to local secondary school girls.
This initiative, “Pad a Girl Up”, was part of the celebrations for World Menstrual Hygiene Day, observed at Mary Immaculate Grammar School in Ado Ekiti.
During the event, the guest speaker, Dr Babatunde Ajayi Olofinbiyi, advised the girls on the importance of maintaining cleanliness, especially during their menstrual cycles, recommending bathing at least twice daily to uphold hygiene standards.
Also, the Director-General of the Bureau of Ekiti State Community Communication, Mrs. Mary Oso-Omotosho, inspired the girls to view themselves as future leaders capable of driving societal transformation.
The Deputy Chairperson Nigerian Youth Congress Miss Olowokere Mercy pledged to continue the program in other regions.
On his part, the Chairman of the Nigerian Youth Congress’s Ekiti State Chapter, Aare Adedara Temitope Moses, expressed gratitude to the Ekiti State First Lady, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Development in Ekiti State, the Director General Diaspora Mrs Fasuba, Diaspora community, Boo Charity Foundation, Ekiti State Accountant General Mrs O.T Olayinka, Bureau of Civic Orientation and Citizenship led by Mrs Famuyiwa Olawumi, Mama Fasuan Omobolanle, as well as other contributors for their support in making the event successful.
The event was also attended by notable figures including Special Adviser SA on Youth Development, Ambassador Olu Ajayi Maxwell, SSA Students Affairs Miss Adetiba Oreoluwa, SA Strategic Communication Miss Adebimpe Fajuyi.
Several schools participated in the programme, including Baptist High School, Muslim College, Hadden Model College, Ado Grammar School, Olaoluwa Muslim Grammar School, Ado Community High School, and Mary Immaculate School, all located in Ado Ekiti.
