Three women died of Thunder Strike in Bauchi

Three women, including a new mother, have reportedly been killed by a thunder strike in a settlement in Bauchi State.

The incident reportedly occurred on Monday at Gambiri, a settlement in Bauchi Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that the thunder strike was massive, piercing through the hut where the women were at about 5:30 pm on Monday, August 17, 2026, following a heavy downpour.

According to reports, the three women were sisters from the same parents and had been preparing for the naming ceremony of a newborn baby.

One of the victims, Hauwa Juli, had recently given birth to the baby, who was in the same hut when the lightning struck but was left unharmed. The naming ceremony had been scheduled for Tuesday, August 18.

The other two victims were identified as Fatima, Hauwa Juli’s pregnant daughter, and Habibah, Hauwa’s sister, who was also reportedly pregnant.

Instead of gathering for the naming ceremony at about 11 am on Tuesday, residents gathered to bury the three women in an incident that plunged the entire settlement into grief.

Residents of the settlement reportedly accepted the tragedy as an act of Allah, who gives and takes, while praying for the survival and well-being of the baby left behind.
