Street fight claims 2 in Minna, as police arrest 6

A clash that ensued between gang members in Maitumbi area of Minna, Niger state have reportedly claimed two lives.

The police on Monday confirmed that 6 suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.

 

It was learnt that restiveness youth belonging to different gangs engaged in bloody rivalry war at about 8pm weekend using cutlasses, bottles and other dangerous weapons.

A witness said properties including cars, motorcycles, tricycles, shops among others were destroyed by ravaging youth.

It was further learnt that the hoodlums engaged in vandalism and looting of people properties snatching phones, money and other valuable from their victims.

One of the victims, Mrs Alofetekun, who spoke with journalists stated that she was in Maitumbi uphill for special prayers session when she was attacked and her car completely destroyed by hoodlums.

The Niger state police command Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, told journalists in Minna that, “two persons were killed and 6 suspects arrested in connection with the incident,” adding that efforts are on to apprehend other suspects.
