Anyone found responsible for erecting illegal billboards or posters in Ekiti state would face the wrath of the law.
The Director General of the Ekiti state signage and advertisement Agency,Mr Olasunkanmi Onipede gave this warning in Ado-Ekiti while on an inspectionu tour of the State to monitor compliance with the State Signage laws,
The DG expressed displeasure at the rate in which billboards and Posters filter across the State without due permit from the Signage Agency.
Onipede announced that his agency would soon commence an aggressive implementation of the extant laws on signage in the
State. He said that his agency would also “embark on sensitization of Political parties and politicians towards curbing the incessant littering of the State with posters and defacing the environment withl illegally placed billboards”
He cautioned that “there would be no sacredw cow as no political party is exempted from obeying the law”.
Onipede stressed that “the Signage Agency cannot afford to fold its arms while
disorder prevails in the sector” he emphasized that the agency is
responsible for regulating and generating revenue for outdoor signage
and advertisement in the State.
The Agency boss assured that the Fayemi led administration would leave
no stone unturned towards ensuring a neat, well-developed State devoid
of disorder.
He, however solicited the continued support of people in the State for
the administration’s efforts to develop the State and improve the lot
of the people, stressing that “no environment can optimally develop in
a lawless and dirty atmosphere”.
