Osun Assembly Minority Leader Urges Police To Investigate Alleged Invasion of Fed. Poly.

The  Minority Leader, Osun State House of Assembly, Honourable Kofoworola Babajide Adewunmi has seriously condemned the alleged   invasion of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, by armed bearing men believed to be officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

A press release signed by the minority leader alleged that the police officers  fired  gunshots which  threw  the school environment and the host community, Edeland, in palpable fear.

The lawmaker described the incident as a  reckless show of force by those paid from the public coffers to guarantee peace and safety of the people.

“Nothing can explain the behaviour of the policemen who invaded Ede today, giving how they put people of the ancient town in danger through the careless use firearms.

“There are better ways to enforce arrest or otherwise, not the impunity that today’s incident in Edeland clearly projected. This is why I am calling on the Police authority to immediately look into the incident and bring officers involved in the malady to account and punish them for the gross professional misconduct.

“Just yesterday, the Lagos panel on #EndSARS submitted report on police misconduct and other issues, and it was horrible. Let it be known that we will never accept such bad conduct, and the police and other security agents must show professionalism in their relation with our people in Edeland, and Osun by extension”
