Nigeria @ 65: Future is brighter if leaders are ready to learn from past errors-Micheal Ale dev. expert

A development expert and Convener, Global Initiative for Nigeria Development (GIND), Engr. Micheal Ale, has said that there is still hope for the country to be great if leaders are ready to learn from the mistake of the past and use such lessons to lead by example. Ale also urged that leaders should be properly trained in the art of leadership by experts so that they could give the best for the country.

The development expert made the remarks in a press statement to herald the nation’s 65th Independence anniversary. His statement reads in part: “Nigeria is destined to be great and could be far greater than what it is now. We have all the potentials to be greater than even the world powers currently. What binds us together is far more than what divides us. The celebration of Independence is for the hopeful. We are hopeful because we know we possess all the potentials for greatness. Our leaders must focus more on national development. National Development is the wheel of independence, while governance is the driving force. Our leaders are the captain of our ship towards greatness. However, they should be trained to drive us to the expected destination where Nigeria could proudly be counted among the comity of developed countries.

While the recent GIND’s Sub-National Developmental review Report shows that many of our leaders are not ready for National Development, there is hope that should they be ready to learn from the mistakes and errors and even misdeeds of the past in the last 65 years of Independence, they could make better and more patriotic decisions that would drive our greatness in the nearest future.
Our leaders must also do everything possible to ensure that our younger generation are well equipped educationally and morally to face our future. This is why President Bola Tinubu ‘s policy of Students’ loan and other development strategies of his renewed hope agenda become paramount to development and growth. The Federal Government must do more in this direction and bring like minds on board to further the development and growth drive” he advised.
