Medical Association,NAGGMDP Appeals to EKSG on Adequate Committment to Health Sector

……Faults Misrepresentation in earlier statement

The National Association of Government General Medical And Dental Practitioners, NAGGMDP, Ekiti State chapter, has appealed to the State government on prompt and adequate committment to the welfare of medical Doctors in the interest of the health sector.

 

NAGGMDP which also made an appeal to relevant stakeholders to make the health sectors attractive for young Doctor in tackling the “japa” syndrome congratulated the state governor Biodun Oyebanji for electoral successs recorded in the last Saturday state Assembly election.

The Chairman, NAGGMDP Ekiti, Dr. Akinleye Alo, and other executive members at a press conference on Tuesday held in Ado-Ekiti at the NUJ Secretariat, debunked the statement allegedly credited to him that Governor Biodun Oyebanji, has not shown commitment to improving the welfare of doctors in resolving the issues that have lingered till now from the past administration.

“These bright young minds are those we need at the moment to complement the hands we currently have in the system. If they keep leaving the system, we will all bear the brunt”

Dr. Alo, said “The Governor who has only spent a couple of months in office has shown commitment to improving the welfare of doctors and resolving the issues that have lingered from the past administration”

“We do not doubt the sincerity and the commitment of His Excellency, the Governor of Ekiti State to address the issues we have raised and we are more than committed to ensure the success of his administration”

“At the time the association re-appraise our expired ultimatum we had not concluded going on strike. Our members decided to give the state government an additional month to perfect the issues concerning the welfare of doctors working in the state”

Dr. Alo, assured Ekiti people that it’s members scattered around the 22 secondary facilities and those in the PHCs remain committed to rendering clinical services to the community.

NAGGMDP noted that the people should endeavour to come early to the hospital and eschew the evil of assault on health professionals, saying they are limited in number but they are determined to strive within their means to provide uninterrupted service.
