IWD: Women have played crucial role in shaping society, Bisi Fayemi a case study,says Ekiti SSG,Adubiaro

The Secretary to the Ekiti state Government SSG Dr. Habibat Omolara Adubiaro says the role of women in shaping the society economically, culturally and Politically cannot be underestimated.

The SSG made this known in her goodwill message during a programme in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital as part of activities marking International Women’s Day celebration organized by the Book Club at Peace House, held on Tuesday.

The International Women’s Day is a day celebrated annually on the 8th of March, with focus on women’s rights and movements, bringing attention to issues such as Gender Equality, Reproductive Rights and Violence/Abuse against women.

Dr. Adubiaro noted that the women’s day was a special day set aside to uphold women’s rights, celebrate their achievements,as well as recognize the incredible strength, resilience and achievements of” our fellow women all around the world.”

“the book to be reviewed today is  literally a book everyone should have ,most expecially our women.”

Dr Adubiaro described the book as a reflective book with breathtaking contents that speaks on political and social affairs, most especially contemporary Gender issues.

“In recent time some women in whom Erelu Fayemi is one of them have fought for equal rights and representation to driving innovation and progress, they have been the forefront of some of the most significant movements and advancements in history and have also made remarkable contributions in nation building and all spheres of life.

“It is undeniably storytelling at it’s best and a book anyone would find difficult to put down”.

She also appreciated the efforts of the current first lady of the state Dr. Olayemi Abiodun “who has continued with the good works of Erelu Fayemi” and very optimistic that she would do more for the girl-child and women in the State.

Adubiaro also appreciated the members of the peace House Book Club describing them as a comity of book lovers,who has the power to amplify women’s voice’s and stories and to inspire change through technological advancement, education and empathy.

The first lady Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji in her remarks called on women to always be willing to extend their wrapper to the less privileged in the society.

Earlier the convener and the Immediate Past Head of Service of Ekiti State Mrs.Peju Babafemi welcome the guests and participants to this year edition of the where is your wrapper to mark the International Women’s Day themed: “digitALL: innovation and Technology for Gender Equality

The special Adviser to the Governor on Education Science and Technology Dr. Bimpe Aderiye in her remarks noted that the work of the former first lady cannot be ruled out while the present first lady Her Excellency Dr Olayemi also embark on the journey of wearing the shoe of her predesessor the immediate past first lady Erelu Fayemi but not just wearing it.

“She is wearing it elegantly and margestically for the cause of women and girl child in the state”.
