Succour has come to patients suffering from hypertension, diabetes, and sickle cell disease in Jigawa state.
This comes as the government said it has concluded arrangements to commence free healthcare services for the patients across the state.
The Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport, and Culture, Mr Sagir Musa made this announcement in a statement issued on Friday in Dutse, the state capital.
The Commissioner who spoke with journalists said the decision was approved during the State Executive Council meeting held on Thursday.
He added that the state’s Free Maternal Neonatal and Child Healthcare program has been expanded to include free treatment for individuals with hypertension, diabetes, and sickle cell disease at all government-owned hospitals in the 27 Local Government Areas.
Furthermore, the council approved the disbursement of N179.2 million as Direct Facility Financing to accredited Primary Healthcare Centers across the state.
Musa also mentioned that the council approved a work plan for the implementation of the Immunisation Plus and Malaria Progress by Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services (IMPACT) Project, as presented by the Ministry of Health.
The statement also contains an approval of, N69.1 million for the payment of monthly stipends to 79 Midwives and Community Influencers, Promoters, and Services (CHIPS Agents) working in the state.
