..gets NUC’s nod to run degree in Mass Communication for Part Time studies
Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE)’s School of Post Graduate Studies (SPGS) has announced new admission opportunities for the 2021/2022 academic programmes for graduates who desire world class academic and professional training in various fields of human endeavours at the post graduate level.
The University has also added Mass Communication to it’s list if degree programmes available in the Institute of Part Time Studies.
The announcement for the SPGS programmes was disclosed in a release signed by the University’s Acting Registrar, Mr. Mufutau Ibrahim and which was also advertised in two national dailies, Nation and Thisday newspapers on Monday, March 14, 2022.
The press release entitled: POSTGRADUATE ADMISSION FOR 2021/2022 ACADEMIC SESSION, has the website address of the upwardly mobile Ivory Tower, as follows: postgraduate@fuoye.edu.ng, adding that interested graduates could seek more information via the link. It further reads in part:

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Postgraduate Programmes of the School for 2021/2022 Academic Session. ”
And listed available programmes in each faculties where prospective candidates can pursue Masters. ( MSc.& M.A), Mphil/Ph.D and Doctoral (Ph.D & ) degrees . For the Faculty of Agriculture, it listed programmes in such departments Agric. Economics & Extension; M. Agric, Animal Production & Health,
Crop Science & Horticulture; Fisheries & Aquaculture; Food Science and Technology; Soil & Land Management and Water Resources and Agro-Meteorology;
In Faculty of Arts, it listed available programmes in the following departments to include
English & Literary Studies and Theatre and Media Arts.
And in the Faculty of Engineering, the statement listed programmes in such departments as
Agriculture and Bio-Resources Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering; Electrical & Electronics Engineering; Material and Metallurgical Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; and Mechatronics Engineering.
The FUOYE SPGS also listed post graduate programmes in the Faculty of Science to exist in such departments as Animal and Environmental Biology; Biochemistry ; Computer Science; Geology, Geophysics; Industrial Chemistry; Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics and ; Plant Science and Biotechnology.
And finally, in the faculty of Social Sciences, the available post graduates programmes exist in departments such as Demography and Social Statistics, Economics, Psychology, and Sociology, for both M.Sc and Ph.D degrees.
It added that Postgraduate Diploma Programmes (PGD) are also available.
Stating admission requirements for the available programmers, the statement reads in part:
“Ph.D requirements: These Programmes are available to holders of Master degrees, with a minimum of 60% score in their Master degree Programmes from FUOYE and other recognised Universities.
A Ph.D. degree Programme runs for a minimum period of 3 Years and a maximum period of 5 Years.
Note that relevant courses will be taken for the Ph.D studies where prescribed and including a supervised Thesis.
For M.Phil /Ph.D degree programmes, candidates who score between 55.00% and 59.99% Cumulative Weighted Average (CWA) at Master’s level can apply for admission into the M.Phil/Ph.D Programme on full-time basis. The Programme runs for a period of One Session after which the candidate, on good performance can transit to the Ph.D Programme.
Candidates in this category are eligible for conversion to Ph.D. candidature, following a progress assessment report to be made by a Panel of Examiners at the end of the first session of registration. Candidates must score not less than 60% (aggregate) at the end of the first session to be eligible for conversion for the Ph.D. Programme.
“For Master’s degree programmes: a candidate applying for the Master’s degree Programme must have made a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) in his/her Bachelor’s degree Programme from FUOYE or/and other recognised Universities. Master’s degree Programmes run for a minimum period of 18 calendar months (that is, three semesters) and a maximum period of two years (24 calendar months; that is, four semesters) for full-time candidates. All Master’s Degree Programmes are by course work in addition to a research work at the end of which a dissertation is produced.
“Applicants are to note that, a Programme automatically lapses at the expiration of the maximum duration for each Programme. However, a candidate may apply for an extension of not more than 12 months.
“Candidates in regular employment must submit with their applications, formal letter of release for postgraduate studies issued by their employers.
Also, all applicants who are not graduates of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) must request their former Universities or institutions to forward directly to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies the academic transcripts of their First Degrees or Master’s degree with respect to applicants for Master’s and Doctoral Degrees, respectively.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS-
On the home page of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti website, click on Postgraduate Portal.
On the home page displayed, click Application Instruction and read carefully.
Use your Application Number as username and SURNAME as password. Carefully type in your Application Number as any error committed will not allow your details to be displayed.
Thereafter,
Candidates should click OK button on the dialog box displayed and enter your names.
After Login, click on Continue Registration link on the main menu.
Fill in your other bio-data and necessary details truthfully on the webpage. All candidates should upload their Passports pictures by clicking on Browse button and select your picture. Your Passport pictures must not be more than 20KB.
On completion of bio-data, click on Next Step button then click OK on the message dialog box.
All candidates should complete the programme of choice and click on Save then click OK on the message dialog box.
On completion of choice of programme click Next Step button
This application shall close six (6) weeks from the date of this publication.
