No fewer than 30 Ekiti residents on Friday benefitted from empowerment Program organized by the Media For Human Development Foundation in collaboration with the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Ekiti State Chapter .
The thirty (30) beneficiaries mainly women were trained on eight (8) different profiting skills which they can start with little capital.
The.event came up in Awo Ekiti,Irepodun Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.
The women who were selected across the 3 main quarters of the town gathered at the EKCCIDA HALL where the event took place.
Speaking before the commencement of the training, the Executive director of the Foundation, Miss Ayotomiwa Ayodele said she and her sisters came up with the idea of the empowerment programme in honour of their late mother Madam Ayodele who died 24years ago, at a very tender age.
According to her, her mother was “an industrious woman during her lifetime and we decided to replicate what she stood for in other women of the town she hailed from, by empowering them.”
In her remark, the State Chairperson of NAWOJ , Mrs. Adewumi Ademiju lauded the effort of Miss Ayodele saying “the impact of the capacity building programme will not go unnoticed among the women in the town.”
The selected women (who were drawn from the 3 main quarters of Awo Ekiti) were trained in the production of Liquid soap, toilet wash, disinfectant, and various types of snacks while some of the participants were given ₦10,000 each as a start- up fund for their desired skill.
