Ekiti State Police Command said it has arrested five suspected armed robbers, indian hemp dealers, recovers firearms ammunition and others.
The command in a press release on Sunday by the police public relations officer PPRO,DSP Abutu Sunday stated that “On 31/03/2023 at about 21:00hrs, the Command Rapid Response Squad(RRS) in collaboration with the State Amotekun personnel, while on stop and search along USO road, Ise-Ekiti, arrested one Monday Reuben who was in possession of one locally made pistol and two live cartridges.
” During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he is an Indian helmp dealer who engages in cultivation of the weeds at Ise-Ekiti forest and other nefarious activities.
“He mentioned four others as his criminal allies and led the police team to their hideouts in Ise-Ekiti forest where one ThankGod Samuel, Ogenetega Lucky Friday, Wisdom David and Samuel Imeh were arrested from the Forest at about 03:00hrs. Items recovered from them are: one locally made single barrel gun, four cartridges, large quantity of seeds and weeds suspected to be indian hemp”
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ogundare Dare , while assuring members of the public that all the suspects arrested would be arraigned in court at the end of investigation, reiterates the Command’s commitment “to puncturing the activities of criminal elements in the State which are mostly caused by heavy intake of narcotics and and other illicit drugs.”
He equally implore residents to always volunteer useful information that could assist the Police to apprehend criminal suspects in the State.
