The Ekiti State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has expressed condolences on the death of one of its veterans, Mr Akinboye Ogunmola; describing it as a sudden and painful end of an era.
In a statement signed by the Secretary of the Union, O’Seun Ogunsakin, the NUJ noted the indelible marks made by Ogunmola on the media industry in Ekiti State, particularly during his tenure as Chief Correspondent of the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State (BSES) in Governor’s Office, Ado Ekiti at different times and his stint with Television Continental (TVC) among others.
The Union said the deceased, through his dedication and passion for journalism, inspired countless individuals and played a pivotal role in shaping the media landscape in Ekiti State.
It noted that Ogunmola’s commitment to fostering cross-fertilization of ideas and collaboration among media professionals helped to elevate the industry and promote excellence.
“Mr. Akinboye Ogunmola’s legacy extends beyond his impressive career achievements. He will be remembered for his mentorship, guidance, and encouragement of young journalists, as well as his contributions to the growth and development of the media industry in Ekiti State.”
“On behalf of the Chairman of NUJ in Ekiti State, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi and all journalists in the State, I commiserate with the family of Mr. Akinboye Ogunmola on this irreparable loss. It is our prayer that the good Lord will grant his family and friends the fortitude to bear the loss. May his memory continue to inspire and motivate future generations of journalists”, the Union’s Scribe said.
