..… Tasks Faithful on PVC collection, Civic Responsibility in general election
Muslims in Ekiti state have brainstormed on how to spread their tentacles and eradicate the ‘past negative narratives’ for the progress of islam.
The Islamic faithful was also tasked to seize the opportunity of the public holiday declared on Tuesday 24th of January 2023 by the All progressives Congress APC controlled states in the South West to collect the permanent voters card PVC “for diligent observance of their civic responsibilities”.
This forms part of the objectives of the program tagged –Ekiti Muslim Summit organized by the National Council of Muslim Youth Organizations (NACOMYO)
The Program came up Sunday 22nd of January in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state capital .
The muslim community expressed determination to strengthen the existing peace among muslims in the state.
The community in a communiqué at the end of the summit made available to Journalists on Monday by the Ekiti state coordinator of NACOMYO Bro. Mudasiru Yusuf viewed muslims as endangered species in the scheme of things in the state ,urging for a need for progressive elements for the cause of Muslims.
A former Non executive Director of First Bank PLC,Alhaji Lateef Bakare chaired the summit.
The program has the theme- “ Ekiti Muslim Agenda Beyond a Short Term Basis”acknowledged the state governor Biodun Oyebanji for leaving up to his electioneering promises.
The communiqué reads in part:
“the summit agreed that the Muslims should actively take part in politics while urging the Ummah to collect their PVC and vote rightly in the forthcoming general election
“summit urges the Muslims to give more priority to both Islamic and secular education to be relevant in the scheme of things
“the summit encouraged Muslims to synergize more with the government in the area of youth empowerment through interest-free loans via Islamic Banking system”
The summit was attended by Islamic scholars and eminent personalities within and outside the state among whom are the President-General of League of Imam and Alfa’s South-West, Edo & Delta State.Fadhilat sheik Alh. Jamiu Kewulere Bello, Secretary to the state government,SSG, Dr. Habibat Omolara Adubiaro
Barr. Nurudeen Asonogie, Edo State Chairman, NSCIA, Professor Abdul-Afeez Oladosu, Former Dean of the Faculty of Arts, University of Ibadan.
The state governor Biodun Oyebanji who was represented by his special adviser on investment ,trade and industry,Mrs Adeola Omotayo.appreciated muslim support for his administration with the assurance and promise to work and deliver electioneering campaign.
