Ekiti Dental Surgeon, Dr. Owoeye hails FUOYE’s VC over proactive action on Son’s Admission Denial at Varsity

A Renowned Dental Surgeon in the Ekiti State Hospitals’ Management Board, Dr Clement Owoeye has expressed his profound gratitude to the Vice Chancellor of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Professor Olubunmi Shittu and the management of the Institution, for responding and taking proactive action on his Son’s academic pursuit, David Owoeye who was denied admission at the University.

Newshereandthere earlier reported that David was denied admission in the University after scoring 300 in Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME 2025) and an aggregate score of 84 to study Medicine and Surgery at his first choice University for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Meanwhile, the aggregate cut off mark for the course is 84.65 while he appealed that the fraction of 0.65 should not deny his son from studying his dream course, not even now when only 16 candidates scored above the cut off mark, despite the maximum quota of 50 students for the department in the University, as approval by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCAN) in 2023.

Recall that he had also pleaded with the State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji that his Son should also be part of the remaining 32 students that would fill the quota for the department, emphasizing that fractions should not serve as yardsticks to disqualify brilliant students from pursuing their dream courses.

Speaking with journalists in Ado-Ekiti, Dr Owoeye said the Vice Chancellor, Professor Shittu had explained that the admission portal is not yet closed, adding his Son still stands the chance of getting admitted into the University.

According to him, the VC stated that the university won’t hinder students’ career goals,
stressing that his administration has put all mechanisms in place to ensure that students in the Institution enjoy quality and functional education.

Dr Owoeye emphasized that the VC’s action highlights the robust feedback architecture in the University, which according to him would build trust in the minds of Parents aspiring to enrol their wards into the Institution.

His words, “I sincerely want to appreciate the Vice Chancellor of FUOYE, Professor Ibrahim Shittu and members of the Management for taking proactive action on my Son’s case.

“We visited his office on Monday and confidently told us that the admission portal is still open and my son still stands the chance of getting admitted to study his dream course in the University.

“This is a great development which shows that the University is built on the pillar of trust”.
