Few days to Ekiti governorship election, the entire members of state executives of Action Democratic Party(ADP) and local government party chairmen in the state, have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared their support for the party’s governorship flag bearer, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO).
At a press briefing in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, the decampees expressed their displeasure over the unfair treatment and undemocratic tendencies that existed in their former party which prompted them to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The former state financial secretary of ADP in Ekiti state, Chief Olagunju Oluwasegun in an interview with newsmen said that their defection was borne out of their desire to join the winning team and give more support to the All Progressives Congress party’s flagbearer, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji in the June 18 governorship election.
“What prompted us to defect to APC was that we want to join the winning team that will move the train of Ekiti forward” he stated.
When asked about their preparation towards the upcoming governorship election, the former state financial secretary of ADP has this to say;
“Our preparation towards this upcoming governorship election is to make sure that Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji win this election and become the next governor of Ekiti state”
The former state women leader of ADP in Ekiti state, Chief (Mrs) Omotosho also gave her own reason for defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
“When you are in a place and not accorded due recognition, it is better you take your leave before being insulted
She added that all these inadequacies that existed in their former party prompted all the entire excos to come together and decided to pitch their tent with Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.
The former ADP deputy governorship candidate, Mr Idowu Afuye who led the entire former state executives of ADP to the press briefing for their official declaration said his earlier promise to woo more members from his former party to APC has come to fulfilment.
“Three weeks ago when I was declaring for APC, I pledged that twenty thousand people would follow me to join APC.
“As you can see today, all the executives of ADP are here, some local government party chairmen are here despite the fact that all of them are with us. Many of them are still coming to join APC and the Ark of BAO”
According to him , nothing like ADP in Ekiti State anymore.
He stated further that, “The purpose of joining this party is that, I believe in this party at the same time I believe in BAO. I have known him more than 20 years ago, I know his capability, his ability to deliver the dividend of democracy to the people of Ekiti state”
Comrade Afuye promised to woo more members from his former party to APC and worked vigorously for the victory of Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji come June 18.
According to him Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji is a man of content and character who have what it takes to move Ekiti to greater heights.
