……as Divine Touch International school celebrates 2023 Inter ethnic carnival in grand styles
The beauty of culture in the society has been highlighted as significant to growth and development in human society.
This forms part of the submissions given by the Permanent Secretary, Ekiti State Ministry of Art & Culture, Mrs Bosede Adara at this year Inter-ethnic Culture Carnival organized by a prominent private school in Ekiti state, Divine Touch International School.
The event came up on Thursday 5th April, 2023.at the school premises in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
The Carnival which began around 11am has the theme” The Beauty of Cultural Diversity”.
In her keynote address keynote address ,Mrs Adara stated that:”Diversity in culture inspires cultural growth and makes society richer.
“When a community has people of different backgrounds, beliefs, and skills, each person is able to contribute their unique story and gifts so as to make a greater whole.”
Also, the school proprietress, Mrs Sarah Ayeni stressed that ” Diversity in culture is beautiful, it gives us strength, it makes life interesting, it propels us forward and inspires unity, creates room for bonding.”
The carnival was highly competitive as all the scholars were distributed into 7 Ethnic Groups; Benin, Efik, Fulani, Igbo, Tiv, Urhobo, and Yoruba
They wore colourful attires that depicted their respective ethnicity.
Some of the competitions of the day were : Inter – Ethnic Parade, Inter – Ethnic (Mr & Miss Culture), Inter – Ethnic Cooking Competition, Inter – Ethnic Presentation.
Side attractions were artifacts motorcade and mask parade.
The School Principal, Mr Dayo Ayodele appreciated the esteemed parents for their unflinching support always for the growth and development of the school.
He stressed that the ethnic groups showcased cultural differences in terms of leadership, marriage, dressing, conflict resolution, occupation, food to mention a few.
Mr Ayodele used the opportunity to call on parents to register their wards at Divine Touch International school which is located along Afao Road for sound education and moral services .
Also, the school Head boy, John Akeju and the Head girl, Tofunmi Afolabi appreciated their parents and students for making the day a success.
