The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has taken a swipe at the 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Mr Peter Obi, saying the former Anambra governor can only win election on social media.
Wike spoke on Saturday at a stakeholders’ town hall meeting in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.
According to him, if the contest were for a social media president, he would vote for Obi, but the ex-governor lacks the capacity to govern Nigeria.
“Truly speaking, I give Obi president of social media. If you were voting for the president of social media, I would vote for him,” Wike said.
He also described Obi as a stingy politician who cannot be entrusted with the nation’s economy.
Wike, who is leading the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential campaign in Abuja and Rivers, has consistently criticised Obi and other opposition candidates.
He expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu would be re-elected in the January 16 election, dismissing the chances of the opposition.
