The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Mr Peter Obi, has pledged to take care of the welfare of the aged mother of the late Ifeanyi Okorie, who was killed by unknown gunmen during a political rally at the Enugu office of the NDC.
Obi disclosed this on Thursday during the burial of the victim held at Affa, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The former governor of Anambra State encouraged everyone to live with the understanding of mortality.
“We shall all die one day, regardless of political or financial status,” Obi said.
He prayed God to console the bereaved family, especially the aged mother of the deceased.
“Politics should never be a do-or-die affair,” he added.
The NDC governorship candidate in the state, Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa, said the party was in deep sorrow over the incident.
“While the entire NDC family is in deep sorrow, the death of Ifeanyi Christopher Nwolie will not be in vain,” Ohaa stated.
The NDC Chairman of Udi Local Government Area confirmed during the burial that Ohaa personally paid the hospital bill of over N5,000,000 for the late Nwolie and also funded the burial expenses.
Ifeanyi Christopher Nwolie, born April 24, 1983, was shot by armed thugs during the attack on the NDC campaign office in GRA, Enugu, on October 10, 2026. He later died on October 12, 2026, at the age of 43.
