Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have neutralised a suspected bandit and arrested five others during separate operations in Benue and Taraba.
The operations were conducted along the Gbise–Igyudu road in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State and at Peva in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba.
The Acting Commander of JTF Operation Whirl Stroke, Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu, disclosed this in separate statements made available to journalists on Thursday in Makurdi.
According to Zubairu, troops of Sector 1 were conducting a routine fighting patrol on Wednesday when they encountered two suspected bandits riding a motorcycle along the Gbise–Igyudu axis.
“After a positive identification of the armed suspects, troops immediately engaged the suspects resulting in a fierce exchange of fire.”
