Inferno, as Fire wreaks Havoc at Lagos Airport

There was an outbreak of fire at the terminal One of Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos.

According to report, the emergency responders from Federal and Lagos State Fire Services are currently making effort to curtail the incident.

The emergency response teamed up with Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Airport Rescue and Fire Service.

They have succeeded in putting the fire on the first and second floors of the terminal building under control while heavy smoke was still noted as at the time of filing this report.

However the immediate cause of the fire is yet unknown.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) said “emergency response operations are ongoing as our firefighting teams continue efforts to fully contain and curtail the fire, while the orderly evacuation of passengers and airport personnel is in progress.

“To strengthen response efforts, FAAN has activated mutual aid arrangements and called for reinforcements from the Lagos State Government, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, and other relevant emergency agencies”.

Notwithstanding, FAAN said no casualty has been recorded while rescue operations were ongoing.

“We wish to reassure the public that no loss of life has been recorded at this time, and all necessary measures are being taken to safeguard lives and property,” FAAN affirmed.

The Airport Authority however said further verified updates will be communicated as the situation develops.
