
The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi, has extended warm Christmas greetings to journalists across the state, urging them to uphold professionalism, unity, and ethical standards in the discharge of their duties.
Comrade Babatuyi, who said this at the NUJ secretariat, noted that Christmas season offers an opportunity for journalists to reflect on their role in strengthening democracy, promoting peace, and giving voice to the people, especially at a time when society faces economic and social challenges.

He praised journalists in Ekiti State for their resilience, courage, and commitment to truth-telling despite difficult working conditions, noting that their sacrifices continue to shape public opinion and hold leaders accountable.
The NUJ chairman stressed that Christmas symbolizes love, sacrifice, and hope, values he said must guide journalists in their daily practice, particularly in ensuring balanced reporting, national unity, and responsible use of the media space.
Comrade Babatuyi also called on journalists to avoid misinformation, sensationalism, and unethical practices, emphasizing that credibility remains the strongest asset of the journalism profession.
He assured members of the union that the NUJ Ekiti State Council would continue to engage relevant stakeholders to improve journalists’ welfare, capacity building, and safety in the new year.
The NUJ chairman concluded by wishing all journalists in Ekiti State a peaceful Christmas celebration and a prosperous New Year, urging them to celebrate responsibly and return refreshed to the task of serving the public interest.
