Akin akinola falana has been in the film industry since about a decade.
The Ekiti state born actor has taken part in several movies both English and Yoruba such as Awujale, Adelabu, Ife mi,eri ife, undiluted truth, Abaku among others.
The Lagos based actor while highlighting the significance of finance and connection to be able to navigate the film industry in Nigera said:
“I joined film industry through my boss, Pa Peter Fatomilola. Since I joined I discovered that if you want to excel in the film industry, you must have money . money plays a big role if at all you know how to act but no money to produce film by yourself , you cannot go far.
“ And you must have connection. You must also pay homage to your boss and those you met in the industry . Money ,connection and humility play a lead role .
The industry is another world entirely . if you are not well trained at home ,you will be trained there. Even activities at shooting location. Punctuality is the soul of business , all those are enough as training.
“Politics is also in the film industry .The politics there is more than the politics outside. that’s why some people you see their faces six months, after some times , you will not see their faces again because some people cannot cope with such politics. The production managers are alpha and the Omega. You must be connected to them otherwise nobody will call you .
Falana who studied Business administration at the Nigeria Open University,NOUN is also into automobile business.
The Ifaki Ekiti born ariste is currently working on a N70m premium movie titled, Alarada.
“Im working on my personal film now. The title is Alarada. Its about a warrior in my town, ifaki ekiti .
Its an epic movie that will cost between N65 to N70m. The shooting locations are Oyo and Ekiti states.its going to be a premium movie ,an home video’.
On how to address the menace of piracy in film industry especially in the social media time. Falana said:
“Its tough!. A lot of movies produced and watched in cinema, Netflix, before it comes out, it would have been with the internet boys. Pirates would be showing it on telegrams . Before movie comes out, all the Genz would have pirated it. Some watch their movies on telegram before cinema. Piracy has been a part and parcel of Africans. We cannot put everything on government , because government has been trying their best to quench all these things it.
“Those guys are fasting cards. They know how to do wicked things. The only thing is that God will catch them one day , because anyone that is ready to spoil another man’s business its only in God’s hand we can put such person”.
