The Ekiti State coordinator of the Yoruba socio- cultural group ,Oddua People’s Congress (OPC New Era ) Prince Adeniyi Adedipe(aka Apase Oodua) has thrown weight behind the candidature of the All Progressives Congress(APC) standard bearer Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO)in the forthcoming June 18 Governorship poll in the state.
The OPC leader who led members of his extended family, Onikoro Royal Family in Ado-Ekiti into Oyebanji ‘s team, was received by top APC chieftains, leaders of drivers and Okada riders unions as well.as some political appointees of governor Kayode Fayemi .
At an elaborate ceremony held at the family square in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday evening, Adedipe declared that the family members have resolved to work for the victory of the APC Flagbearer at the poll.
A chieftain of APC in Ado-Ekiti Akogun Abayomi(Lustay) who represented Oyebanji at the event described the ocassion as “historic”.
He explained that “Oyebanji is an home grown material” being the reason he enjoys the supports of all and sundry.
According to him,”Ekiti people would have unfettered access to the government more than ever before, as soon as Oyebanji becomes the governor”
The APC stalwart urged the OPC leader “to forget whatever might have happened in the past and work assiduously for Oyebanji’ s victory at the poll”.
Present at the occasion were the APC Ado-Ekiti Local Government chairman,Michael Akinleye ,Ado-Ekiti West LDA,Taiwo Adeyemi
Speaking at the ceremony, Ekiti State Chairman, Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria(RTEAN) Rotimi Olanbiwoninu (alias Mentilo) described Adedipe as an important member of APC and a critical stakeholder whose support is needed at this crucial time .
The drivers union boss thanked the OPC leader for mobilising his entire family members for Oyebanji’s project 2022.
In his speech Prince Adedipe who thanked the leaders of the various unions in Ekiti for identifying with him said “Oyebanji ‘s governorship bid is a family project which must not not fail”
The OPC leader also thanked governor Kayode Fayemi and the Minister of Industry and Investments, Otunba Niyi Adebayo. He equally commended the wife of the governor and Mother-General,Erelu Bisi Fayemi .
Also speaking, the Commandant ,Ekiti State Peace Corps ,Mr Dele Owoju said the APC recognised the contributions of the OPC leader to the party stressing that the party cannot afford to lose him now.
Others at the event were Ekiti State NURTW chairmanComrade Osho Farotimi,Special Assistant to the governor on Internal Security, Sola Durodola,Chairman ,Okada riders Kunle Ashaolu and Femi Olanrewaju (alias Ijakoko).
Also present were Senior Special Assistant on Intergency matters ,Barrister Tunji Lawal.
