The Chairman of Ido/Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Hon. Bamidele Omoleye, has launched a major empowerment initiative aimed at boosting productivity and enhancing the security architecture of the local council area.
Speaking at the program’s venue at the local government headquarters in Ido-Ekiti, Omoleye noted that the gesture will further enhance intelligence gathering and patrol activities, thereby reducing crime in the area.
He added that the initiative is one of the ways his administration is fulfilling its promises to enhance the security system, eradicate poverty, and make life more meaningful for the people at the grassroots level, while also boosting productivity in the area known for its agricultural products.
Omoleye emphasized that the ₦200,000 distributed to the five security agencies in the area is strictly meant to be invested in boosting the security system, which would, in turn, improve the economy of the residents.
“We are doing this based on their needs,” he said. “We engaged them one-on-one to attend to their priorities. Some of the items we distributed based on their requests include tyres for the area command and divisional headquarters of the police, as well as additional tyres for the Road Safety Corps to enable them to discharge their duties effectively.”
The chairman also mentioned engaging local hunters and providing them with necessary items such as raincoats and lanterns to enhance their services. Furthermore, he presented cash gifts to five agencies to renovate and refurbish their offices, with amounts ranging from ₦200,000 to ₦400,000, depending on their needs.
Omoleye expressed gratitude to the state Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, for his commitment to strengthening the security architecture in the state, particularly in Ido/Osi Local Government Area.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to doing more and not resting on its laurels in improving the welfare of residents.
The State Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Folorunsho Olabode, commended the chairman’s judicious use of the allocated funds. “I’m proud of the chairman,” he said. “The money seems well spent based on what I’ve seen today.”
The recipients were overwhelmed with joy and gratitude, promising to make good use of the funds and materials provided.
The Head of the local hunters, Chief Adebiyi Olugbenga, described the gesture as unprecedented and commended the chairman’s efforts.
