Ekiti State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun has said that the strong collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of Government has engendered the remarkable development witnessed in practically all spheres of life in the State.
Presenting his account of stewardship to the State Assembly in Ado Ekiti, Rt. Hon. Olatunbosun extolled the legislators for their commitment to the development of the State as demonstrated by their support for efforts of Governor Biodun Oyebanji to develop the State through proper legislature and apt oversight function.
Olatunbosun said that” the partnership between the executive and legislate arms is yielding positive results for people in the State and contributing immensely to the positive change and progress of the State.”
The Commissioner who was conducted round the ongoing renovation of the House of Assembly complex by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, explained that the massive facelift of the Assembly Complex was to create a conducive atmosphere for optimum and effective legislative duties in contemporary era.
Olatunbosun also commended the leadership of the Assembly for digitalizing operations of the Assembly, noting that the House is fully ICT compliant and could compete favourably with its peers across the globe.
Giving his account of stewardship, he stressed the administration commitment to “transparency and accountability” adding that in line with its inclusivity policy, “the administration not only keep everybody in the State abreast of Government’s policies, programmes and activities but obtain feedback from the people to help shape policies.”
According to him, the State Government abhors crass propaganda, adding that no stone would however be left unturned towards ensuring that no one is left behind in the shared prosperity agenda of the administration.
In his remarks, the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye explained that the remodeling of the Assembly complex would include the provision of a clinic, conference room and a new parliamentary room for public hearing as well as offices for the Speaker and his deputy.
Rt. Hon. Adeoye said the remodeling work would also make provision for new conducive offices for the Chairman, Executive Secretary as well as Commissioners of the House of Assembly Service Commission, stressing that the focus is to boost efficiency and effective service delivery in the legislative sector.
He commended Governor Oyebanji for respecting the rule of law and providing favorable environment for the legislators to perform effectively and assured of the continued support of the seventh Assembly in the State for efforts at rapidly developing the State.
Rt. Hon. Aribasoye stressed that the account of stewardship programme is part of the oversight functions of the Assembly and not a witch-hunt, adding that it is part of efforts to ensure transparency and accountability by public office holders.
The Speaker pledged the continued support of the legislative arm of Government for efforts to develop the State and make life better for the people.
