Gunmen abduct Lawyer,2 others in Anambra

Gunmen, reportedly abducted a lawyer and two other persons at Nkpologwu in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra state.

According to Blueprint the gunmen who stormed the community between 7.30 and 8am, carried the operation at different locations within the town and drove away.

A trending video on social media showed a somersaulted vehicle along the Nkpologwu-Akpo road believed to belong to one of the victims.

The President General, Nkpologwu Community, Professor Ferdinand Ezeiruaku, while confirming the incident in a telephone interview, said the gunmen were heavily armed.

According to him, two of the victims whose names were not provided, including the lawyer, are based in Abuja, while the third victim is based in Port Harcourt.

“They had returned to the community to attend an event organized by the local women’s group in their August meeting. We urged the public to support us in praying for their safety and quick release,” he added.

However, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, could not confirm the incident despite several attempts to connect him on phone.
