The National Secretariat of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has constituted a nine-member Credentials Committee to oversee the preparations and conduct of the Association’s forthcoming 2026 Triennial National Delegates Conference, scheduled to hold in November 2026.
NAWOJ in a press release signed by the
National Secretary,Wasilah Ladan stated that the decision was reached at the National Executive Council (NEC) Meeting of the Association held in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.
Addressing the newly constituted Committee, the National Chairperson of NAWOJ, AISHATU IBRAHIM, charged members” to discharge their responsibilities with fairness, impartiality and a high sense of professionalism”.
She stressed the importance of “adhering strictly to the Constitution of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and other relevant regulations guiding the Association, noting that due process and respect for established rules are essential to preserving the integrity, unity and credibility of NAWOJ.”
The Committee was formally inaugurated by the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Alhassan Yahya Abdullahi.
Inaugurating the Committee, Comrade Abdullahi charged members to carry out their assignment with the utmost integrity, patriotism and professionalism, while ensuring that the electoral process is free, fair, credible and transparent, and produces an outcome that is acceptable to all stakeholders.
He commended NAWOJ for its commitment to democratic principles and urged the Committee to be guided by the Constitution of the NUJ in the discharge of its responsibilities.

9. Comrade Farida Abubakar Member
“The Committee is saddled with the responsibility of coordinating the necessary processes towards the successful organization and conduct of the 2026 NAWOJ Triennial National Delegates Conference.”
The National Secretariat therefore calls on all members and stakeholders of the Association to give the Committee the necessary cooperation and support to enable it discharge its mandate effectively.
