Varsity Lecturer Alerts Stakeholders on Ways to achieve Best Education Outcomes in Nig

Low quality graduate output ,curriculum deficiency , cancellation of religious activities in schools ,insecurity , low public- private partnership and wastage of the boy-girl child  have been described as problems making educational management to be at a cross road in Nigeria.

A university lecturer, Professor Florence Adebayo made this known yesterday while delivering the 68th inaugural lecture of the Ekiti state university,EKSU,in Ado-Ekiti,Ekiti state.

 

The lecture was titled- Educational Management in Nigeria at a Cross road: Stakeholders to the Rescue.

Prof. Adebayo stated that many of the problems cannot be solved by the government alone.

 

she tasked other stakeholders to rescue educational system from comatose.

‘ education is not only the responsibility of the government but a collaborative efforts of relevant stakeholders in education industry.

“It becomes highly imperative that parents ,religious bodies, private sector ,teachers, students and alumni association should form a synergy with the government to rescue the Nigerian education sector from the state of comatose” .

The scholar added that “the collaboration of all the relevant stakeholders in education will surely help the schools to realize their vision and mission towards delivering the best education outcomes for students”

She enjoined the government to desist from paying lip service to education through promises.

“This is time for action. The bogus budgetary allocation to pay the public office holders could be reduced in order to have enough money for the development of the nation’s educational system at all levels.

 

“This will help to address the decay in the state of school infrastructural facilities.

In his remarks,the vice chancellor of the University, Professor Edward Olanipekun stated that the inaugural lecturer has showcased her scholarly writing with the “eloquent presentation and rich content”

The VC appealed to the government and relevant stakeholders to “please study some of these recommendation and see the ones they can use that would benefit the generality of people in the country”

He used the opportunity to appeal to students of the institution who had earlier in the day protested over the plan by the school cab operators to increase transport fare from N200 to N300 over fuel hardship.

The vice chancellor who announced 3-day lecture free has been declared to allow normalcy returned into the school, promised to negotiate with the leadership of the cab operators for smooth activities in the campus.

The inaugural lecture was attended by academic scholars from different institutions of higher learnings and the monarch ,Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti,Oba Adejimi Adu, the hometown of the inaugural lecturer.
