President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Lagos after ending his extended working vacation in France.
Tinubu arrived at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, on Tuesday, where Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other dignitaries received him.
His arrival was also confirmed by the President’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Olusegun Dada, who posted on X: “Landing. Welcome home Mr President!”
Tinubu left Abuja on August 30 for a working vacation in Europe. He initially spent about a week in London before proceeding to Paris, where he held engagements including meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron and businessman Vincent Bolloré.
The Presidency had earlier announced that the President extended his stay in Europe by a few days before returning to Nigeria.
According to a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu departed Paris for Lagos, where he is expected to hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates.
“While in Lagos, President Tinubu will also hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates over several days in preparation for the 2027 elections,” the statement said.
The Presidency also said Tinubu chose Lagos as his first destination after returning to Nigeria to honour the memory of the late Chief MKO Abiola, who won the June 12, 1993 presidential election and became a prominent figure in Nigeria’s democratic history.
As part of activities marking Nigeria’s Independence Day on October 1, the President is expected to attend the premiere of a film honouring Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos.
Tinubu’s stay in France also included a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and other engagements during his extended working vacation.
