Madagascar’s national football team, the Barea, have arrived in Uyo ahead of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash with Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
A 28-member delegation of players and officials landed at the Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo at about 2:05 p.m. on Sunday and proceeded to their hotel after completing immigration formalities.
Additional members of the Malagasy delegation are expected to arrive in Uyo on Tuesday.
The Barea will face the Super Eagles in their opening Group L qualifying fixture at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Friday, September 25, 2026.
Following the encounter, Madagascar will return home to host Tanzania in their second qualifying fixture four days later.
Madagascar will also draw confidence from their previous meeting with Nigeria, when they defeated the Super Eagles 2–0 in the group stage of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
