Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has paid tribute to women across Nigeria and the world, commending their resilience, courage, sacrifices and accomplishments.
In a message marking the 2026 Mother’s Day celebration, she described mothers as the quiet builders of the nation’s future and the constant strength behind every home.
According to her, mothers deserve recognition for the love, care and dedication they show daily to their families and society.
“Today, I celebrate every mother across Nigeria. Your love, care and sacrifices are deeply appreciated,” she said.
Tinubu noted that beyond the visible sacrifices mothers make, it is often the small and quiet acts of love that truly define motherhood.
“On this special day, we remember those precious moments and express our gratitude for the warmth and love you generously share,” she added.
The First Lady described mothers as heroes who play a vital role in nurturing families and shaping society.
She also encouraged mothers to continue guiding and mentoring their children while passing on values and wisdom that will positively impact future generations.
“I urge mothers to keep teaching and guiding their children, instilling strength and wisdom that will benefit generations to come,” she said.
She further prayed that parents would live to witness the success and achievements of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mother’s Day is celebrated globally in honour of mothers, motherhood and the important role women play in shaping families and society. The celebration takes place on different dates around the world, most commonly in March or May.
