…As EKSU VC bows out in blaze of glory
The Bishop Catholic of Ekiti Diocese, Ekiti state, Most Rev. Femi Felix Ajakaye, has described quality education as a powerful tools to a greater Nigeria if embrace by all.
He called on Nigerians especially the three tiers of government and other stakeholders to embrace quality education so as to put an end to all the rot in the education sector in the Country.
The cleric also appealed to all and sundry to stand for the truth without compromising God’s standard so as to have a peaceful society. “Truth is like a lion that no one need to fight for it, as it will fight for itself”.
Speaking on Sunday at the thanksgiving service of the outgoing Vice Chancellor of the University, held at St. Aquinas Chaplaincy, EKSU Campus, Ado-Ekiti, Bishop Ajakaye urged all the living souls to be thankful to their Maker, noting that it’s good to give thanks to God in whatever situation, adding that a thankful heart is an humble heart.
While describing the outgoing Vice Chancellor a selfless, fearless and courageous leader, the cleric said, “We’ve come to thank God on your behalf for what the Lord has done in your life and the University community at large.
He charged the incoming Vice Chancellor to continue where his predecessor stopped and to also embrace the ongoing projects executed by his boss. “When we throw away continuity, we throw away history. There’s no history without an event.
According to him, “the University has been destined to be great. Everyone should contribute his or her quotas to make it greater than we all imagined. This higher institution is our treasure and this treasure must not die in our hands.”
Bishop Ajakaye urged all not to frustrate anyone “because it is a known fact that the way you lay your bed, so you lying on it. Don’t pay evil back with evil, do good to all that comes your way and embrace peace.”
He urged the new Vice Chancellor to bring his wealth of experience as an academic and a seasoned administrator to bear in the bid to further reposition the University as a world class institution of learning, even as he wishes him a successful tenure.
Ajakaye, therefore thanks the outgoing Prof. Olanipekun, for his meritorious service to the University and wishes him success in his future endeavors.
Giving his appreciation, the outgoing and 8th substantive Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Edward Olanipekun, thanked the former governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi and current governor Biodun Oyebanji for the opportunity to serve as the VC of the institution.
Olanipekun who could not hide his joy specifically thanked Bishop Ajakaye and all others who supported his administration to ensure he succeeded in the task.
The outgoing VC appealed to the University to give their total support to the incoming Vice Chancellor even more than they did for him and pledged his support for the institution.
It would be recalled that the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji recently approved the appointment of Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele as the new Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti.
Ayodele, a Professor of Education Management, is until his appointment, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) of the University and will fully takes over the mantle of the institution on Tuesday.
