Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka, Emeritus Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, has been honoured with the prestigious Award of Excellence by Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, as part of activities marking the institution’s 65th anniversary, OAU@65.
The award ceremony, held at the iconic Oduduwa Hall, was organised by the Faculty of Environmental Design and Management (EDM) in recognition of Prof. Eleka’s outstanding contributions, achievements and impact in the built environment and public service.
In another remarkable demonstration of his commitment to education and human capital development, Prof. Eleka also launched an Annual Scholarship Programme for indigent students of Obafemi Awolowo University.
The scholarship, which will be awarded annually, is designed to provide sustained educational support to deserving students facing financial challenges, enabling them to remain focused on their studies and achieve their full academic potential.
The initiative further reflects Prof. Eleka’s enduring belief in the transformative power of education and his commitment to giving back to the institution that played a significant role in his development.
The memorable occasion brought together distinguished academics, OAU alumni, the Guest Lecturer, QS (Pst.) Boluwaji Alabi, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adejimi Adu Alagbado, the Ogoga of Ikere-Ekiti,Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology ikere Management, led by Prof. Andrew Babatunde Omojola — Vice-Chancellor and other notable leaders, students and members of the university community to celebrate excellence, service and the enduring impact of OAU alumni.
