Portable demands DNA tests to ascertain Paternity of children

Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has demanded DNA tests for his two children with actress Akinyanju Omobolarinde, popularly known as Ashabi Simple, before taking responsibility for their upkeep.

The singer made the demand in an Instagram Story on Friday amid an ongoing dispute with Ashabi over the welfare and financial support of their children.

Portable said he wanted the paternity of the children established before committing further funds to their care, claiming that he did not trust their mother.

“I need DNA test asap so I can take care of those kids because I do not trust their mother. I cannot take care of another man child,” he wrote.

In a voice note circulated online, Portable also questioned the paternity of the children and said he wanted them taken to a hospital for DNA testing before providing further financial support.

The singer questioned Ashabi’s alleged movements during their relationship, claiming that she sometimes stayed away from their home for several days because of film shoots.

Portable also dismissed physical resemblance between him and the children as sufficient proof of paternity.

“Forget that the babies look like me, we were living together so the babies can look like me due to that,” he said in the recording.

The demand came after Ashabi accused the singer of failing to provide adequate financial support for their children and reportedly threatened to involve the police over their welfare.

In screenshots shared on her Instagram page, Ashabi claimed that Portable had given N200,000 towards the upkeep of their two children between January and September.

She also claimed that she had paid their school fees for three terms and had been responsible for feeding and clothing the children.

“I sha don give you Enough time to be responsible.

“January to September u gave 2kids 200k. Have paid for 3 term school fees for them each. Have been feeding them all alone and clothing them,” she wrote.

Ashabi said she contacted Portable because she wanted him to take responsibility for the children’s welfare.

She added that she would stop repeatedly contacting him over their upkeep but expected him to fulfil his responsibilities towards the children.

In another screenshot of their alleged conversation, Portable reportedly told Ashabi to either take care of the children herself or hand them over to him.

“Give me those kids or take care of them yourself,” he said.

Ashabi, in her Instagram post, accused Portable of refusing to be accountable for the welfare of their children.

“Online warrior, your fans will push you to canal. I do not really care about you but that you won’t be accountable and responsible for your children welfare, I am not just ready for you because I respect your people that was why I chatted you,” she wrote.

She also responded to an apparent allegation involving charms, writing, “Why would I use charm on a finished man, I do not have the time.”

Portable, meanwhile, rejected Ashabi’s reported suggestion that they put their differences aside for the sake of their children, saying, “You are my enemy for life.”

The singer also made comments about Ashabi’s health and personal life in the voice note, including remarks concerning her alleged fibroids.

The latest disagreement between the estranged couple has unfolded publicly on social media, with both parties sharing messages and allegations concerning their relationship, the paternity of the children and their financial upkeep.

No DNA test result establishing or disproving Portable’s paternity claim was included in the statements and social media posts cited in the report.
