OYEBANJI EXPRESSES CONDOLENCES ON EX-GOV OLUNLOYO’S PASSING

 

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed condolences to the Government and people of Oyo State as well as the Olunloyo family on the passing of a former Governor of old Oyo State, Dr Victor Omololu Olunloyo.

Dr Olunloyo who died on Sunday, aged 89 years, served as Oyo State Governor in the Second Republic.

Governor Oyebanji, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, said the late Dr Olunloyo left a remarkable record of service, and commitment to the development of Oyo State in particular and Nigeria as a whole.

He noted that the late Dr Olunloyo was a distinguished scholar who contributed to the moulding of the nation’s manpower in the education sector before he joined public service, where he also served meritoriously.

The Ekiti Governor said the deceased’s service as a Commissioner in the old Western Region was notable and served as a launching pad to higher service as Governor in the old Oyo State.

Oyebanji credited the deceased with relentless contribution to national development, especially for offering his counsel at critical times and opening his door to contemporary politicians to tap from his wealth of experience.

He urged the family of the deceased to continue to celebrate his purposeful life and indelible legacies which have outlived him.

The Governor prayed God to grant the family, associates, the government and people of Oyo State the fortitude to bear the loss.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Ekiti State, I commiserate with Governor Seyi Makinde; the good people of Oyo State and the entire Olunloyo family on the passing of a celebrated leader and former Governor of old Oyo State. Our prayer is that the Lord will grant his soul eternal rest and comfort the family” , the statement added.
