Osun Guber: Aregbesola disociates from controversial comment on election

The Minister of Interior Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has rejected that a controversial comment on the outcome of Saturday’s Governorship Election in his home state, Osun emanated from him.

The message (now deleted) seen on his social media handle reads: “Osun Le Tente.
This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men. – (Daniel 4:17)”.

The post has generated different reactions both applause and disgust from different circles especially disapproval from his party members who flayed him for not supporting the incumbent, Gov. Adegboyega Oyetola.

Aregbesola has however debunked the post as an unauthorised message, urging the media and the public to disregard it.

Internal crisis has generated in the Osun APC and strained relationship has ensued between Aregbesola and his successor Adegboyega Oyetola leading to emergence of two factions where the duo control the groups within the party.

The intrigues deepen as many APC members defected to the PDP.

The APC eventually lost the Saturday July 16 governoship election as the Independent National electoral Commission INEC declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Ademola Adeleke winner, having polled 403,371 to defeat Oyetola and the APC who scored 375,027 votes, while Lasun Yusuf of Labour Party, LP polled 2,729 to come third.
